What could grow on an old triscuit biscuit that would cause numbness on the tongue as well as making it dry and sticky?

My tongue went numb, dry and sticky to the touch after eating about a dozen old triscuits.  I washed it down with about a pint or two of juice, which helped get rid of the funny taste and sensation, but I've still got a little bit of that numb feeling.  I called the poison control center and they didn't know of anything that could grow on wheat that could cause this to happen.  Anybody have a clue?
