We Interrupt Our Weekly Eating Practice Post for a Book Announcement
Posted Sep 16 2012 8:59am
I was humming along just fine with this week’s eating practice when, on a whim, I decided to try a hard-core 14 day ketogenic low carb Atkins Induction. I typically go on vacation in December and It would be awesome to peel off some weight beforehand so that I can eat and gain weight – but having lost the weight prior, will be able to take it off easier – old fat is less mobile than new fat – at least in my experience.
I also decided to write this up in a lot of detail. A LOT of detail. I have been, well, to be honest, obsessing over the topics of weight loss, nutrition, diets, obesity and the like for 9 years now. My bookshelves are filled with diet and nutrition books, my web bookmarks on the subject are in the thousands. I spend most of my spare time either reading about this stuff or writing about it.
This is going to be the 476th post here. There’s also 276 posts I’ve never published for various reasons. I apparently like to write and am passionate about the subject.
I’ve also noted that one particular post of mine ‘ Atkins Induction – Observations on my First Few Days ‘ is just about the most popular post I’ve ever written. I thought to myself: if people are finding their way here for this, perhaps there’s a need for something more detailed.
And I think there is. There’s a lot of details that go missing in all the information out there – including my post, which is just a brief overview.
So I decided to go into way more detail as I do my current 14-days on Atkins Induction. I’m on day 6 and I have 34 pages.
I also bought a Kindle the about a month ago and love it. Amazon also makes it ridiculously easy to publish a book on the Kindle, so I put all these things together and decided I would try to finally write a book I would be willing to publish.
This would be my third book, actually. Twice before I have written huge chunks of books, only to abandon them because I didn’t think they were good enough.
I think the one I am working on I might actually publish. Maybe the third time’s the charm?
What I find interesting is that I haven’t lifted anything from my blog so far. everything is original and unpublished. My wrists are sore from typing. While some of the ideas have been covered before, the presentation is all new.
When the 14-days are up (If I don’t screw up and blow it), then I have to read and reread the thing to tighten it up, do my best to find sources for some of the things so you know I’m not pulling facts out of my ass, and maybe even pay for a real editor to help me eliminate my lazy habit of using dashes all the time – like this.
If I were a real author, I might be sitting in my study, in a smoking jacket, overlooking my reflecting pool, and be able to have my secretary clear my schedule so that I can provide my publisher a solid date when the book will be finished and ready to publish.
I am NOT a real author – at least not one like that – and my work and my family and all those other things that get in the way might mess up my launch date – but I’d like to think I could have it published by the end of 2011.
Just so you know, Kindle books can be read without a Kindle – they can be read on computers, tablets, and smartphones as well.
For you guys – you people who I really don’t understand why you would read this blog when there are so many other better blogs out there – you will be able to grab a copy for free for a limited time.
If you are interested in getting a copy, drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with ‘Book Offer-Interrupt’ in the subject line.
When the book is ready, I will send you an email with instruction on how you can get, for a limited time, a free copy.
I promise I won’t spam you. And I’m not selling you anything. Like I said: for you guys, who have sustained me all these years with your kind and thoughtful comments, you will be notified when the book is available for free beforehand.
