A Special Valentine' s Day Question:
Do you think it' s inevitable that people in long-term relationships end up packing on pounds because they no longer have pressure to look their best?
Answer From Healthy Eating Coach Melanie Jordan:
Well this is definitely a timely question with Valentine' s Day just around the corner.
I know that this "I' m comfortable in a relationship, no need to watch my weight" concept happens. However, I don' t think that you can generalize one way or the other. Whether one ends up packing on the pounds or not is a matter of lifestyle choice, regardless of whether or not you' re in a long-term relationship.

I am lucky in that my husband is very much into a healthy lifestyle like I am, and we have encouraged each other to stay healthy and fit through the years.
We get each other pumped up to go the gym, when maybe we would have each been lazy without the other' s encouragement. He' s given up red meat and eats Boca Burgers with me. We love to take long walks and hikes wherever we travel.
Keep in mind that this Valentine' s Day, and every day, there' s no better way to say "I love you" than working to stay healthy and fit so that hopefully you have a very long life together.
