Vacationing's no time to eat poorly

Posted by vicki l.

It's summer, and that means lots of us will be taking trips somewhere and enjoying the local cuisine. So how do you come back from a trip as healthy -- or healthier -- than when you began? You have to be careful about what you eat and you have to think "moderation," according to the American Dietetic Association. That means: stay active; think fruit for breakfast before adding a protein; have a salad for lunch (it's bulky). Just watch the dressing!; be choosy about calories (think lean protein such as chicken, fish, lean roast beef or pork tenderloin; watch nighttime eating; and share dessert (if you have to have it)

I recently went to Cabo and was enjoying a strong number of pina coladas daily. Though I know they are calorie crazy, I didn't feel guilty at all until I realized how much I was spending each day on them. There went a second day of jet skiing... Staying on a budget so you can enjoy the activities your vacay spot has to offer (a beachside massage thankfully still fit into my plans) is a great way to avoid overindulging
