There’s more coming in the Autism, Vitamin D and Vitamin K2 MK-4 series, but I’ve been traveling and busy. Stay tuned for the rest, as well as some new recipes. In the meantime, here are some local foods-oriented news items:
This Saturday, September 26th, 2009 is the
King County Farm Tour. It’s a free event, featuring dozens of farms in King County. I’ve gone on this and really enjoy it. There’s more information
here, and a list of participating farms
here. You can download the pdf of the full farm guide
here -- it’s also in the September 16th issue of the Seattle Weekly.
Coming up on October 11th, 2009, there’s the 6th Annual
Eat Local Now! dinner event at the West Seattle Masonic Hall. Eat Local Now! is a collaboration to promote the importance of and strengthen the local food systems and economies in Cascadia. More information is
here.
At this event, the annual Jeff Fairhall Local Food Hero Award will be announced. This award is in memory of Jeff Fairhall, who was significantly active in the local foods movement in and around Seattle, and who passed away two years ago this month. Consider nominating one of the amazing folks out there -- farmers, food systems coordinators, organization staff, activists, restauranteurs etc -- who help make our region one of the best places to eat local in the country. More information and a nomination form are
here.
