A few of you asked how it went last weekend with Eldest Son's state Science Olympiad competition. The Southern California event is dominated by a school that only cheers on its scads of students when they win first or, maybe, second. Eldest's school fields a team of eight students who don't have the luxury of having Science Olympiad as a class, but a club. Do they place at state? No. Do they have a grand old time not medaling? Yes, and I think that they are a wonderful group. Go, Nighthawks!
For those of you wanting some low-carb comfort food, I've posted my Best Half's version oflower-carb mac and cheese. It is yummy and reheats wonderfully.
I have a terrible confession to make. I succumbed at Easter. All of my favorite candies were lying around that Sunday, and I partook. Muchly. Now, I am ashamed to admit, I have fifteen fever blisters on my lower lip and below my mouth. I feel like the Elephant Man. Fifteen, for crying out loud. I know what sugar does, I know what a poison it is, I know that it fuels many of our ills, and I still stuffed the carbage down my throat. Next time I'm tempted, I'm hoping that a picture of what I look like now will flash into my mind. Aargh!
