Hi BabyBlue - Oh yes, I can understand your frustration about trying to lose weight, motivation and diets. For some of us, it's a lifetime commitment and struggle. The good thing is that you are now motivated to care for your body. Good for you!
The frustrating thing about most "diets" is that they are restrictive. On one hand, they give you total guidance on what you need to do, but --as you pointed out-- it's hard to stay on them for very long. Yet, you have learned something while following these diets in the past, haven't you? Things like:
- counting calories
- protein, carbs and fat
- the value of being physically active.
If you know how to do that, keep a food journal of what you eat for 3 to 5 days, then start cutting calories. Can you cut down on fat? This is your biggest enemy. How about sugar and alcohol? Soft drinks and juices? Can you switch from red meat to white meat? Can you modify the recipes of the foods you really enjoy to make them less caloric?
