While I’ve cut back quite a bit (yea!), sadly, my savings account isn’t much more padded than it was in October (mostly due to the holidays and a plane ticket to N.J. that set me back some).
But all hope is not lost.
I have high hopes that we’ll still be able to go — though not in Jan or Feb. like we hoped.
See, with my husband in his evening MBA program — he’s officially half-way through! — he really can’t take a week off mid-semester and that was when we’d been looking to go (during the Chinese New Year, when my brother would have va-k).
On the plus side (because I’m always trying to find silver lining somewhere!), waiting a little longer gives us more time to save/plan. He has spring break the first week of March, and so we’re looking now into airfare for Korea for that time-frame.
Now, there are no guarantees we’ll be able to do it (though I REALLY REALLY want to go!), but it’s looking more and more possible … and now that we have some dates in mind, I’m hoping we can make it happen.
I figured putting it out there (and knowing tangible dates) will give me more of an incentive to think twice about my spending!
One thing we both have in common is that we’re both very forward-thinking and determined, so … let’s see if we can do this! It’s another reason to want to be in better physical form by then.
Plus, I’m sure I’m going to need a strong stomach to handle the food over there! My brother has been eating all kinds of wild delicacies over there: jellyfish, pig spine, octopus brains, etc. I don’t forsee myself experimenting that much, but I do know I’ll need to be a little more open-minded and willing to experience more spices/flavors … we shall see!
Wrapping up, my other big goal for 2010 is to be able to take this huge trip!
This is my last post of 2009 and so I just wanted to wish you a happy, healthy new year and since we have guests coming this weekend and I have shopping plans with a dear friend on Sunday I probably won’t post again til Monday.
