Tiger, Tiger, Tiger

Posted Aug 16 2009 10:23pm

As happy as I am for Y.E. Yang, I’m always sad to see Tiger Woodslose a major:( I also got a little homesick because they were playing at Hazeltine, which is roughly 20 minutes from where I grew up. It was a bittersweet day (and you all think I’m crazy for caring so much about golf, I know).

So I got almost everything accomplished on the to-do list today…

  • Laundry!!!
  • 3-mile walk/run
  • Grocery store
  • Watch Tiger win :) (knock on wood) – I don’t want to talk about it.
  • Cook a real dinner!

After I posted about the Botanic Gardens, I decided to get some fresh air. I mapped out a 3-mile route and did a running/walking combination. It was really hot, humid and windy today, so I wanted to make sure I didn’t overdo it! When I got back, I went to Whole Foods and found that they were having a farmer’s market in the parking lot! Unfortunately, I didn’t have my camera, but it was pretty awesome :) I picked up some groceries, including a cucumber-avocado sushi roll for lunch.

I topped the roll with some soy sauce and ate it with a fork (since I am not chopstick savvy – I wish).

Then I got to work on the laundry and cleaning of the apartment. While I worked, I munched on something that hasn’t been seen on the blog for almost a year…a PLUOT!!!

I really missed these! They are so juicy, sweet and easy to eat :)

One of Bobby’s friends ended up coming over to see the apartment later in the afternoon. He stayed and watched golf with us for a bit, and then he left and we continued to watch golf (and no, it is not boring if you just give it a chance). We also raced outside to see a part of the Air and Water Show that is going on in Chicago this weekend. There were about four planes flying super close together – it was crazy!

Then came the best part of the to-do list: cooking a real meal! Tonight we decided to make stir-fry! We picked up a bag of veggies at the store recently that had a lot of variety in it.

We decided to do a chicken + shrimp combination with the veggies. We put olive oil in each of the pans and had one for shrimp + veggies and the other for the chicken.

The stir-fry sauce was a combination of sesame-ginger marinade and soy sauce. It was pretty arbitrary – I like a lot of sauce :) When the chicken was cooked, we combined everything together in one big pan and added more sauce to coat all of the ingredients.

When everything was sizzling, we were ready to go! Nothing like a warm meal while watching my golfing idol …still so bummed that he lost!

Unfortunately, he probably missed that putt…

At least the food was delicious ;) After the golf round was finished, we did P90X Ab Ripper on DVD and watched the Season 4 finale of The Office. We are officially out of shows and need to find a way to watch the 5th season before the next one starts. Anybody have any tips on where we can find it?

While we watched, I made myself some delicious banana soft serve topped with two Ghirardelli 60% cacao squares. I know I’ve said it before, but this really is one of the best desserts ever.

And that was that! Another weekend over already? How does time go by so quickly?! I hope everyone has a great start to the week. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a slightly less humid one.
