The Plight of Restaurant Critics

I have been reviewing restaurants for several years. It's a lot of fun, but you can't just go in and order the diet plate. You have to sample their special cocktails, the creamy house dressing, the homemade pasta, the daily dessert. As you can imagine, there's a lot of rich food being consumed in quantities that's well? not conducive to staying out the ?big girl? stores. One of the things that goes by the wayside is snacking. With amounts of food going down at meals, I can't (or least shouldn?t!) be raiding the fridge. Also, I try to keep my other meals lean and full of fiber: lots of raw salads with lemon juice and a little olive oil. I also try to lay off the booze in my off hours, if I have been doing a bunch of restaurant reviews. And also, I step up my water intake and walking around the neighborhood. It's not easy, but when I don't, clothes are hard to fit and it's harder to feel my best. Also, I have learned that it's no sin to not clean my plate and take home the proverbial doggie bag.
