Happy Fourth of July!
I can’t believe how bad I’ve been about 1) blogging and 2) holding to my own “commitments.”
Despite my best efforts, I discovered that AM workouts are not going to happen at this juncture in my life … and that I need to accept it and make the most of my evening workouts.
Why? Well … I gave it a trial run, the old college try. I slept in my gym clothes (things I used to do to make getting to the gym in the AM easier), laid out my sneakers and set my alarm for 5 AM. Should have been a piece of cake, right?
#EpicFail.
Mama needs to readjust her expectations!
One morning I overslept and needed to pump STAT (yes, STAT. Ouch.). One morning, Maya randomly woke at 5 and needed to be calmed back to bed. One morning I was just too damn tired when the alarm went off. One morning my husband’s arms were wrapped tightly around me and I didn’t want to leave.
And so it went.
The truth is, mornings are just too unpredictable and harried as is now (even with most of the prep being done the night before). So instead of beating myself up over this fact, once I’m done nursing and pumping, maybe I’ll re-evaluate … but for now, not happening, and I’m coming to terms with it.
And as for eating better? Well … yea, that, too, has been a disaster. As I told a friend tonight, I’m certainly not living like someone who wants to lose weight. And while some times it feels good to not be obsessing (freeing, even), after this weekend, my body needs me to at the very least care a bit more
Still, it’s been a wonderful holiday weekend with my little family and I certainly didn’t dwell. We slept in, we snuggled, we went cherry picking and BBQed and did some shopping and went out with friends and Maya swam in her little pool and went for walks and I went to Zumba … all in all, a wonderful weekend.
I hope you, too, had a great weekend — they go by MUCH too quickly.
And the ONLY reason I’m even remotely looking forward to going to work tomorrow? I’m excited to carry my new bag! Other than that … I could use another weekend
