The fine balance of health and join me in nourishing yourself!

Posted Mar 15 2011 1:45am

I’m so glad you found my video on the benefits of juicing versus blending helpful. It’s a very common question and one that I hope has been answered for you now.

If you’re anything like me, you can get way over-excited and passionately driven to work and work and work and work. I LOVE what I do with a capital L (and capital O, V and E) but I can still push myself too hard, get stressed out and face the repercussions.

Yesterday I woke up with the hint of a sore throat and over the day it worsened until it was annoying. I wasn’t even close to bed ridden but my body was definitely calling out for some extra relaxation time and nurturing. I blame the Telesummit (sooooo much interest and awesome feedback already – thank you guys and gals!!). I am loving putting it together so much but it’s not so smart if I tip the scales on my frumpy to fantastic meter towards the former as a result right? wlEmoticon winkingsmile2 The fine balance of health and join me in nourishing yourself! Not too many months ago I wrote about this exact topic for Kris Carr’s Crazy Sexy Life website , specifically the fine balance required for optimal health and the contributors to symptoms and illness. Number one of course is stress! I also shared some of my top ways to get back into balance and be your own preventative health practitioner so that you don’t get laid up with sickness from emotional and mental stress. You can read that article here .

My first recommendation above all else? Listen to your body’s signals! For example, right now my body is screaming at me “hello, rest some more would you crazy over-working lady!!!” Gotcha body of mine, I’m listening. Prescription to follow…

If your body is giving you signals, and they can take almost any form (a headache, tension in your neck and shoulders, digestive upset, irritability, etc), listen up, and then take action to tell your hot bod that you are not ignoring it’s gift of a signal .

In the interest of giving you some inspiration to join me if your body is whispering (or knocking you on the head with a hammer) that you need to chill out and nourish yourself more, I am going to share with you what I’ll be doing to help my body get the attention and down time it needs. My sore throat is already almost non existent now but I know not to ignore the signal just because it’s much quieter. No excuses either as my schedule is just as crazy as ever for the next few weeks so everything I do will be quick and efficient but reap great benefits. So you can do this too!

  • Keeping up with my green juice, green salads and cooked veggies routine for loads of alkalinity and nutrition

  • Keeping up with regular colon cleansing
  • Taking systemic enzymes on an empty stomach
  • At least 8 hours of sleep per night, 9 hours where possible
  • Ten minutes of meditation daily where I tune in with the vibration of love (the highest vibration of all. I do this by sending love to everything around me and in me, including my throat)

  • Two hours of non work time per day. I am working early mornings and nights right now so I will be finding two hours each day where I can rest, read, get in the kitchen, walk, meditate, sit in the sunshine or anything else I want to do
  • Gentle walks outside in the fresh air daily

  • A half hour in the sunshine every day getting my Vitamin D
  • Using a daily mantra of saying “thank you” to my body and its signals, and to any stress in my life for the messages it is trying to tell me.

I use almost all of these strategies in my life ongoing anyway, every day for some of them, but I am going to do them all together and be extremely conscious of my thoughts, feelings and stress levels to help my body know I am hearing it, honouring its messages and taking action to help my body re-balance.

If you want to join me in using these simple but unbelievably effective tools to help yourself create even better wellbeing for yourself, I definitely encourage you to! Leave me a comment below to let me know if you are going to use any or all of these – I’m very keen to know!

What helps you get back in balance when stress levels are high?
