Teenagers Have It Rough

Adolescent mood swings are fable material by now but American researchers have found a possible explanation for their quizzical behavior. Hormones are supposedly to be blamed for mood swings present in even the sweetest of children once they reach adolescence. Parents shrug it off and pray for the better quieter days to come already. This hormone theory has not had scientific data to back it up – until now. Researchers from the State University of New York have identified a hormone that could be at the root of this whole matter. The possible culprit, THP (tetrahydropregnanalone) is produced by the body in response to stress and usually has a calming effect in adults and young children.
