Taco Bell Frutista Freeze is a mirage of fruit juice!

Have you seen those sexy adverts for the Taco Bell Frutista Freeze? They feature that Rupert Holmes “Escape” (The Pina Colada Song) tune from the 70s!
Doesn’t the drink look soooooooooo refreshing and tasty? Imagine that on a hot summer day???
Well, don’t kid yourself, that drink is loaded with stuff and you won’t even find a trace of fruit juice in it.
In fact, at the end of the advert, you hear a voice quickly say: “the Taco Bell Frutista Freeze contains no fruit juice”!
The reality is that most of those drinks served up in fast food restaurants are LOADED with high-fructose corn syrup that you want to minimize (if not eliminate altogether from your diet)!
In fact, there are reportedly a whopping 250 calories in a Taco Bell Frutista Freeze!!!
Now, if you are standing at a fast food restaurant and you desperately NEED to inject that amount of high-fructose corn syrup into your system, no one can help you. But, if you are willing to take a few minutes at home and prepare a healthier version, than you’ll be able to learn how to make healthier food choices that are not only tasty, but that won’t set you back in your diet plan.
I ALWAYS have naturally carbonated water in my refrigerator.
One of my favourite drinks is naturally carbonated water mixed with fruit juice (I’m quite partial to pineapple, but also quite like cranberry and pomegranate). I cannot tell you how refreshing those are at the end of a long hot day.
I’ll be honest, my juice is NOT organic. I buy juice that doesn’t contain any sugar. Cranberry juice is the only juice I buy that contains sugar because unsweetened cranberry juice is just not something I’m keen on drinking … I just make sure I don’t drink too much of it!

Here’s a simple recipe that might help you prepare a healthier version of the Taco Bell Frutista Freeze.
The best part about prepare fruit juice mixes at home is that you get to control HOW MUCH sugar you put into your drink and you also control THE QUALITY of the sugar you use!!!
<<<Ingredients for your Healthy Creamy Summer Freeze>>>
½ a tall glass of naturally sparkling (carbonated) water
A small splash of vanilla extract
Stevia (or you may want to use liquid sugar or raw sugar)
½ a glass of milk (I only drink organic milk)
Small piece of pineapple, lime, orange, lemon or cherry for garnish

2. Fill the glass halfway with the naturally sparkling water.
3. Add a splash of vanilla extract.
4. Add some stevia or your raw sugar to taste (you might you might want to put less and adjust to suit your taste buds … remember you can add sugar, but cannot remove it – for this recipe drops of stevia or liquid sugar will be the most practical options).
5. Mix all the ingredients well, but slowly, to avoid an overflowing glass.
6. Slowly, in stages, top off with the milk and stir gently.
7. Finish your drink off by garnishing with pineapple, lime, orange, lemon or cherry on edge of glass.
