Summer is the perfect season to get healthier because so many local foods are in season and markets are bursting at the seams!

I’m quite partial to summer and love everything that comes with the warmest season of the year.

Rediscovering my favourite summer fruits and vegetables might be my favourite part of summer and the

idea of seasonal produce thrills me to no end.

The key to eating healthier during the summer months is to find recipes that celebrate seasonal produce, herbs and lots of flavour.

I’ve found all these yummy, tasty and healthy recipes that will help you kick off summer on the right foot!

All these recipes are from some of my favourite online go-to recipe sites and I hope you’ll find a few recipes that you’ll be compelled to try this week!

>>>> Food & Wine 10 healthy pasta recipes: I really love pasta and I love discovering new recipes to make one of my favourite foods more unexpected. I frown upon this notion of a no carb diet and I continue to say that if Italian women can eat pasta (sometimes twice a day) and remain thin … so can I!

Here are some great healthy pasta recipes I thought were mouth watering:

* Spaghetti with Lemon, Chile and Creamy Spinach

* Fettuccine with Tomatoes and Crispy Capers

* Whole Wheat Rigatoni with Roasted Vegetables

* Fusilli with Creamy Leek Sauce

You’ll find all 10 recipes here: Food & Wine 10 healthy pasta recipes

>>>> Food & Wine 10 healthy Asian recipes: I’ll be honest, Asian dishes are not my strong suit, but that surely doesn’t stop me from trying my hand at any new recipes I can find. The Food & Wine healthy Asian recipes are fairly simple to make.

Here are some of the Asian recipes I have on my list of recipes to try:

* Rice Noodle Salad with Chicken (Nix the ramen noodle mix packets that are full of really bad ingredients and try this healthier version instead!)

* Wasabi Flank Steak and Miso-Glazed Potatoes

* Shrimp-and-Vegetable Summer Rolls

* Lemongrass Chicken

>>>> Food & Wine 20 summer sauces & condiments recipes: This is the season of condiments. After all what would a proper burger be without the right condiments? If you were looking for home made recipes for your condiments, these will surely be winners.

Here are some of the ones that are on my list to try this summer:

* Smoky Steak Sauce (I love steak so this smoky sauce is a must-try)

>>>> Food & Wine 10 salsa recipes: Salsa and chips are such a perfect combination as an appetizer for your summer dinners. Why not make your own salsa instead of buying the ones that are sold in a jar?

Here are some of the salsa recipes I’ll be eating with my corn chips this summer:

* Pineapple and Red Chile Salsa

* Salsa Verde

* Lump Crab Salsa

* Pico De Gallo

* Fourth-of-July Firecracker Salsa

I found this new product called Happy Pho by this company called Star Anise Foods – it’s a tasty Vietnamese brown rice noodles soup that I’m literally addicted to as I can get a nutritious vegan meal together in 10 mins.  You can get them at  Amazon.com or grocery stores in Northern California.  Yum! ttp://staranisefoods.com/find-us.aspx
