Summer is when the berries come out in full force and it’s a wonderful time to begin incorporating more raw and living foods into your diet. This recipe is a staple for me; it’s simple, filling, and delicious.
I typically stock up on fresh berries when they’re in season and freeze them so I’ll have them available when I want to make this or another recipe that calls for frozen berries. That way I have fresh berries all year round.
If you’ve never tried starting your day with a raw meal, I definitely encourage you to try this one and see if you can tell a difference in the way you feel; I bet I know the answer!
Fresh Berries and “Cream”
In a small bowl, cut up 1/2 banana, 3 or 4 fresh organic strawberries, and add a handful of blueberries or raspberries. Set aside.
1/3 cup raw almonds
3/4 cup pure water
1/4 teaspoon Celtic sea salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1 frozen banana
1 tablespoon agave nectar (or to taste)
1 handful of frozen blueberries*
Mix ingredients together in blender and serve over bowl of berries. Top with a few raw walnuts. Enjoy!
*You can use any frozen berry you like – try it with strawberries or raspberries.
