Sunflower seed fans with a touch of sleep deprivation can now go nuts without a coffee chaser thanks to South Dakota-based Dakota Valley Farms, makers of Sumseeds, sunflower seeds spiked with caffeine, taurine, lysine, and ginseng. A 3.5-ounce bag sells for about $2, and are currently available only in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; however, convenient store chains through the Midwest have started expressing interest in the energy seeds, so it's quite possible they could end up on the west coast. The company believes they'll make for a popular snack among truck drivers, who chew sunflower seeds to stay awake (the company believes), and 18 to 30-year old males, especially baseball players who like to spit things aside from (or maybe in addition to) tobacco. What a rush!
