First there were whole grain crackers, then came gluten-free crackers, now there are raw flax crackers, but today I present to you superfood, protein-rich gluten-free, raw crackers! These crackers taste awesome, look pretty and make a great to-go snack for anyone with a raw food lifestyle or even those of you that just want to add a little healthy boost to your day.
Of course, like all of my cracker recipes you can easily modify these to suit your own personal tastes, by adding or omitting the garlic and/or herbs and spices in any way you like. These crackers make a great compliment to all your favorite mild flavored Raw cheeses and spreads.
What you’ll need
1 1/2 Cups Soaked Organic Chia Seeds (For soaking the ratio is 1 dry Chia to 4 Water; soak for about an hour) ( Buy organic Chia seeds HERE )
1/2 Cup Organic Hemp Hearts ( Buy them in regular or BULK online Here )
1/4 Cup ground Sunflower Seeds
2 Cloves fresh Garlic (crushed)
2 tsp Dried Basil
1 tsp Dried Rosemary
1/2 tsp Sea Salt
1/8 tsp Cayenne
1/4 tsp fresh ground Black Pepper
Mixing bowl or Food processor
Dehydrator with Telflex Sheets (or waxed paper)
How to do it
Step 1 – Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl or food processor until very well combined
Step 2 – Use the spatula to remove mixture from the bowl and spread it evenly onto two dehydrator trays fitted with the Telflex sheets. The mixture should be about an 1/8 inch thick.
Step 3 – Dehydrate at 105-115F for ~6-8 hours. After 6-8 hours flip the Telflex sheet over so that the crackers are face down on the mesh screen. Peel off the Telflex sheet and continue to dehydrate for another 4-6 hours or until the crackers are very crisp.
Step 4 – Remove the crackers from the dehydrator and cut or break into desired cracker shapes. Enjoy!
