Snowed In

I debated whether to write an intro and title this “first post,” but I thought I’d just jump right in :) Yesterday we caught the blizzard and were snowed in all day. I got to spend mucho quality time with the family and we were all so bored that we did every family holiday tradition in one day. Baking christmas cookies? Check. Watching ELF? Check. Annual argument steming from too much family time? Check.

I was also getting antsy because I’d been cooped up inside the house all day. I do not like sitting around being un-productive. I actually debated going for a run in the blizzard. Yes, I’m one of those people. My dad was considering it too. I wonder where I get it from…

I woke up this morning and made a warming bowl of pumpkin raisin oats

Am I the only one obsessed with cute dishes?

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup dry oats
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/3 cup organic pumpkin puree
  • 2 Tbsp. raisins
  • Ezekiel almond cereal
  • Cinnamon. Tons and tons.

I opened a new bottle of cinnamon today:

I found this on sale at TJ Max. I went there to look for yoga pants and somehow I ended up in the cookery isle. I left with no yoga pants, but multiple kitchen items. Why. does. this. always. happen ?

I wish I could say that the gourmet Madagascar cinnamon was out-of-this-world and I’m never buying generic cinnamon again. But… I couldn’t tell the difference. In fact, it was too mild and I ended up adding much more to spice it up. I’m pretty sure my oatmeal was half cinnamon by the end. Not complaining.

I also had a cup of Starbucks Christmas Blend in a festive mug

While I was eating breakfast and reading blogs, I kept hearing a loud truck beeping outside my window. I was getting pretty annoyed until I realized what it was…

The snow plow truck cleared the roads! Yessss now I can be the not-so-crazy person running in along the street.
