I am a firm believer that kids need snacks. Not the typical snack but instead one that will help add more nutrition to the child's diet. Snacks aren't a time to give those "empty" calories to fill the small void until the next meal. Instead, use snack time to give them a pick me up, to add more fuel to the tank.
Fridays are my days with the girls. A day to take a break from my other job, Health Promotion Specialist for a Health & Wellness program, and focus on my main job as mommy! So on Fridays we get to play around with our food a little more. We are usually on the go in the morning, after a nice complete breakfast, and then back home for rest time and play time. Today, after having my outrageous oatmeal we headed out to the children's museum for fun. I won't mention the special, very infrequent lunch we had because this blog is supposed to be about healthy eating right? But, remember, you must have fun and be relaxed with eating, too. It's all about moderation! So after a full day and a nice rest time we had a small snack of Ezekiel Raisin Bread with almond butter; my oldest enjoyed a small amount of Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter with hers, too, and a ripe juicy peach. To make the snack even nicer, my oldest and I shared a glass of ice tea. I've got her liking this yummy Pure Organic brand green tea on ice. What great taste. Heehee.
