In the
Seattle Neighborhood Farmers Market Association ’s
calendar of what’s fresh each month, September is the month with the most items. It’s not surprising. I walked through a market full of greens, tomatoes, apples, pears, grapes, onions, beans, and even late season berries.
Sadly, there were no eggs for those of us who arrived past the earliest minutes of the market. One of the biggest egg suppliers,
Rickman Gulch farm, has stopped selling at the University District market due to time away from the farm, meaning other vendors sell out very quickly. We miss Rickman Gulch’s poultry and eggs, and we need more eggs!
