The world’s oldest person, Yone Minagawa, has died. She was 114 and from Japan, where her diet consisted mainly of fish and rice. This healthful diet has long been thought to be the main contributor to the island’s extremely long average life span. Japanese women hold the record for life expectancy at 85.81 years, and Japanese men live to the high average of about 79 years.
On the other side of the globe, the fattest nation in the world (guess who) can take this moment to remember Emma Faust Tillman who beat the odds and wore the world’s-oldest-person crown (she was also 114) until her death last year. I’m quite keen to know what her taste buds fancied.
