Yesterday, as we all know, was Election Day — without a doubt, the biggest election of our time. I voted early in the morning and decided to savor it and take a half-day for me — something I so rarely do, but of which I’m a big advocate.
With it being 70 degrees and sunny and gorgeous here in Michigan yesterday, I just knew I had to “carpe diem.”
Last week in a raffle at work, I won a free day of PTO (paid time off) and figured I’d use half today and half for our wedding anniversary in two weeks.
I went and got a haircut, which I dig. Then I went to the mall and got an adorable top and a warm sweater at Ann Taylor Loft.
Afterwards, I was debating between the gym and biking outside and I’m so glad I biked. Yea, I’d have burned more calories faster at the gym. But I didn’t want to 1) ruin my hair or 2) pass up the opportunity to savor an Indian summer day in early November. So I biked, and it felt wonderful.
Then my husband and I grilled burgers and watched the election returns all night. A little cocoa and also some reduced fat ice cream for dessert, and I was golden!
Now that I had some “me” time … and a new ‘do to boot, I hope to be refreshed and on my game today.
How about you? How often do you take personal days?
