On the last day of my Staycation, my friend and I decided to stop at this cute little Market & Deli in Georgetown for our Sunday Funday lunch. He had driven by it before and thought it would be a great place for us to get lunch…since I was in the mood for a sandwich.
The Market is full of fresh, and what seemed to be local, vegetables, along with a variety of raw and cured meats, as well as a nice selection of mustard’s, jams, sauces, pastas, and baked goods.
These were both INCREDIBLE. First of all, the sandwiches were enormous! Each sandwich was definitely enough for 2 people. I ate one half of mine and saved the other half for the next day. My club had probably a pound of fresh turkey and was layered with cheese, avocado, tomato, bacon, and alfalfa sprouts, which was a nice touch, and mayo.
It was really good, but the pastrami was outstanding.
This is not a lie…seriously the best Pastrami I’ve ever had. It was cut really thick and piled high on thick Pumpernickel bread. The meat was tender and seasoned perfectly with this smokey sweet rub. It was really incredible. The pastrami came with a side of pickles, and these were better than any NYC pickle I’ve ever had. Just enough dill and salt, and we both agreed it was absolutely delicious.
We shared a side of potato salad that was…wait for it… probably the best I’ve ever had. I’m not even kidding.
I don’t even like potato salad, and I couldn’t stop eating this one. It had a nice mayo/mustard ratio, and had a touch of sweetness from the pickles, which I thought really took it to the next level. I felt like after every bite of the sandwich, the pickle, and the potato salad, we looked at each other and said “this is serious the best ___ I’ve ever had”
We ate our meal with Sparkling Rose while watching football. It was one of those great relaxing Sundays, and I would gladly do it again in a heartbeat. And more importantly, I will gladly go back to Stachowski Market & Deli for another awesome sandwich!
