S: Salad Lyonnaise (traditional) - Mixed salad leaves with bacon lardons, croutons, poached egg and (I think) a Dijon mustard dressing.
M: Pork fillet mignon with dauphinoise potatoes, julienne of mixed vegetables and a mushroom sauce.
The salad was simple and tasty (if a little unhealthy with the fatty lardons I had) and the main course was delicious - the pork was tender, the sauce was beautiful and the potatoes were creamy and garlicy as they should be. I would have liked more veg - but thats my personal preference. Its a rarity to have veg at all in Lyon...
Although the ambience in this little restaurant was good and the welcome was warm from (some of) the staff - I did notice that my salad appeared maybe to be a tourist version (vastly different from that served to French patrons).
So here is a tip to 'Le Marronnier, Lyon' - don't treat tourists (I suspect - particularly English tourists) like they're stupid - because we aren't! Our food easily rivals yours these days and we know much more about it!
Having said that, my main course was delish - so perhaps a momentary lapse on the starter??
MY RATING: I give you the benefit of the doubt and 6/10 :-)
