Diets rich in carbohydrates have been linked to high blood pressure, according to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. People with a carbohydrate-rich diet may have a slightly higher blood pressure than people who have diets rich in monounsaturated fats, said Dr. Meena Shah of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Dr. Shah and his colleagues reviewed 10 published studies that compared high-carbohydrate and high-monounsaturated fat diets to reach their conclusions, Reuters reported.
