In the spirit of summer vacation, this post is going to be short and sweet. Okay, the recipe is savory, but you get the idea. ;-)
When temperatures soar, as they have been in our new Southwestern home - hovering above 110 degrees daily, we like to keep our eats fresh, cool, and simple. We've been eating truckloads of fresh, organic, raw fruit and drinking lots of green smoothies in order to keep cool. None of us feel like spending a lot of time in the kitchen.
On rare occasions, one of us - usually Livy, will wander into the kitchen to make something special. Everything Livy whips up is a treat. But, when she sets her mind on creating an interesting and inviting raw food recipe - watch out! You can count on it being great. :-)
Case in point - Livy's Pâté de Ocyan
This light, refreshing raw ground nut & seed preparation sets one's palette adrift on an ocean of flavor. Too dramatic? Okay...it makes me want to hang out at the beach. It's so healthy, it might just help me fit into that fabulous swimming suit I've had my eye on. :-)
Recipe (serves 1-2):
Chop or combine the following in your food processor until texture is smooth; - 1/4 cup raw almonds - 1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds - add water as needed (Livy used about 1/2 cup water)
Stir into the nut and seed mixture; - 1 teaspoon chickpea miso - the juice of one lime - 1 Tablespoon dulse flakes - 2 Tablespoons chopped celery - 1 green onion, chopped - 2 radishes, diced
