Raw Experimentation Part 1: Raw Chocolate Donut Holes
Posted Jun 12 2009 6:40pm
I was in the mood to experiment yesterday, so I thought I'd try my hand at a few raw desserts. I was amazed at how simple they can be. I had to stick with ones that don't need a dehydrator, since I don't have one yet, but they are still delicious and fun! My first experiment was inspired by Ani Phyo's donut holes, but I made them my own!
They were absolutely amazing. I don't think I will ever need to eat another cooked pastry. I could subsist on these alone. They are so good and just the perfect amount of sweetness, and they are surprisingly healthy. (Ok, so I was totally lying about cooked pastries. I'm sure I will be experimenting with them tons more!)
1. Grind the almonds 2. Process all remaining ingredients except cocoa powder together until thick. 3. Form into 4 small balls and roll outside in cocoa powder. I threw mine in the freezer for a few mins to firm up. You can take or leave the freezing step.
The BF raved about these. He wants them all the time now! I can't believe I got the carnivore to try a few raw recipes and loooooooove them!
Note: new and better pics will be uploaded next time I make these (which will be somewhat soon I think...)
