5 Stars We placed using his tecniques
Wow. I bought this book, throughly impressed. So, I bought another copy and gave it to my son. This was about three months ago. Then, we decided to enter our first BBQ competition. It was a serious competition with 74 teams in the

Pit division, 55 in the local division. We entered the local. How did we do? 10th in brisket, 8th in chicken and 3rd in beans. We were shut out in ribs and desert. This could not have happened without this most excellent book.

The only thing I wish for this book was more information on competitive smokers. The recipes are great. We used one of his mustard slathers, one of his sauces. Before we enter another, we will practice with more of his recipies.

I have over 30 BBQ books including that most excellent BBQ Chef, John Willingham. I know using his techniques and recipies, I will eventually get out of the minors and go to the show in Memphis and KC.

5 Stars Paul Kirk’s Championship Barbecue
This book is fantastic. We have already tried a lot of the recipes and agree that this is Championship 5 star barbeque.

Paul Kirk is the man. This dude knows his ‘que. this book is a blessing! Steve Reichlan is good, but Paul Kirk is REAL! He’s got great information on the world of competition bbq, even down to the proper lettuce to serve your ribs to judges on. Its filled with legendary bbq recipes passed down from chefs to backwoods smokers from down south. As an amateur BBQ competitor myself, I found this to be filled with all information that I need to compete (he even gives you websites for info) as well as classic time tested recipes from rubs, to mustard slathers, to the difference between all the cuts of meat! This guy is legit. If you’re interested in the world of real BBQ and competitions, its all in this book. Smoke your face off!

    5 Stars Kansas City BBQ
I bought this book on a hunch that it might have good BBQ sauce recipes in it. It turned out to be a very good cookbook in my opinion cause i love BBQ. Well written and informative. Most people probably have heard of Paul Kirk before they purchased the book but I had not. Im not sure what I was comparing it against when i rated it I have three other BBQ books and this one seems to be more advanced than the others. The rating purely comes from recipe quality and information. For BBQ of course.
