Outside the Box Frontier Girl Test: Flavored Chocolate Bars

I love those fancy flavored dark chocolate bars that set you back $5-10 a piece, so I figured that would be the perfect thing to try to create on the cheap. I decided to make a coconut/macaroon-flavored dark chocolate.
The goods:
80% dark chocolate bar
coconut oil
unsweetened shredded coconut
The method:
I made an impromptu double boiler and melted down the chocolate (note: I wish I had more!).
Then, I added the coconut oil and shredded coconut to the melted chocolate.
I spread the very coconutty mixture out on a greased baking sheet and let it harden in the fridge for about 20 minutes.
And then cut it into pieces…
It was sooo rich and delicious — and very much a macaroon crossed with a chocolate bar. I loved it! Using this method, you could really flavor your chocolate with any ingredients/flavorings — nuts, dried fruit, ginger, mint, etc.
