Obesity Still High: Americans Not Losing Weight

Posted May 03 2010 12:00am

No matter where you go in the U.S., you're tempted by refined carb "treats" and junk food. Any time you turn on the TV, you're enticed by more nutrient-poor, quickie-carb stuff.

Obese person Small wonder that our obesity rates are about the same as last year.

Indeed, Gallup  alerted me that the U.S. adult obesity rate was 26.7% in the first quarter of 2010. That's similar to the 26.2% in the fourth quarter of 2009 - and worse than 2008 levels.

In all, since 2008, the obesity rate is somewhat higher for most key demographic groups, including by age, race, gender, and region.

In fact, Gallup tells us, "obesity rates increased more among women and those living in the South. Black Americans, whose obesity rate of 36.2% is the highest of the groups analyzed here, also saw one of the largest year-over-year increases in obesity rates."

For those of you who are struggling with obesity, you have my empathy. It can be a challenge to lose weight, but it's well worth it, as anyone who has lost weight can tell you.

If you have a sugar habit in particular, it would be my honor to help you. You can learn more here about my Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction in 6 Weeks Program.
