Today at work, a friend introduced me to her newest smoothie and I had to share !! As you all know, I love smoothies. The cold and creamy drinks just satisfy almost any craving, which is why I have one daily. Nicole's smoothie was no exception. Here is the latest addition to T he Soulful Spoon's Spoonful of Smoothies collection. Try it for a different spin on your favorite morning smoothie!
*Nicole's Go-To Green Smoothie*
1 stalk of celery
5 frozen strawberries
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1 scoop of green powder ( we used Health Force Nutritionals Vita-Minerals)
1 scoop of all natural, antibiotic and hormone free vanilla whey protein powder ( we used MRM brand)
1 tsp. organic vanilla flavoring
1 tsp. cinnamon and ginger ( optional but very tasty!)
Using a Magic Bullet ( or your favorite blender), insert the coconut milk first.
Secondly, add the celery and strawberries.
Add the vanilla, powders and spices.
Puree for 1-2 minutes until the blender almost sounds silent ( no crushing!:)
*Feel free to substitute with your favorite milk ( mine is almond milk by Almond Breeze-unsweetened vanilla) found in the dairy department at your local market.
I'm going to try my own version of this tomorrow and I'll let you know how it goes! Until then, happy blending! This smoothie provides 100% Vitamin C, essential electrolytes, vitamins, minerals and easily digestible protein along with healthy fats that help with nutrient absorption.
*Try this smoothie with your favorite milk ( any kind), your favorite protein powder ( or use greek yogurt, which I like), and your favorite fruit.
* The celery can be replaced by 2 romaine leaves or a small handful of fresh spinach for a sweeter taste. If you don't have green powder, don't fret, just add another green or omit at first to get used it! It's incredibly tasty!
~ It's important to note that this is very filling. If you're not looking to watch your weight, or want to maintain your weight, I would eat this in addition to other meals, such as brunch or an afternoon snack. If you drink it for breakfast, be sure to use an entire serving of protein and greens for adequate nutrition.
