Nausea and Vomiting Home Remedies

Nausea is the feeling of discomfort in the stomach, leading to the urge to vomit. Nausea is not a disease but a symptom of a variety of ailments. Vomiting, on the other hand, is the emptying of stomach contents through the mouth. There are many reasons for the sensation of nausea and vomiting including drinking alcohol, pregnancy, infections, flu, upset stomach, migraines and motion sickness. Excessive vomiting episodes can lead to a set of symptoms including dizziness, difficulty in swallowing food or liquid, changes in skin temperature and increase in the rate of heartbeat.

Traditional Remedies for Nausea and Vomiting:

  • To help relieve the symptoms of nausea and vomiting, make fresh ginger tea. Combine fresh pieces of ginger in water and add a little honey to taste.
  • Combine fresh slices of lemon and boiling water. Sip the tea to alleviate symptoms.
  • Heat cardamom seeds on a pan. Crush the seeds and add honey. Take this many times during the day.
  • To alleviate the symptoms of nausea and vomiting, boil together mint, lemon and honey in water, forming a tea. Add honey and drink this tea many times during the day.
  • Make a tea of cloves, cinnamon and cardamom. Sip this tea to treat nausea and vomiting.
  • Mix together one teaspoon of ground cumin seeds and water. This will help stop nausea and vomiting.
