Motivation to lose weight tips

Posted May 23 2010 9:00am

Maintaining your motivation to lose weight is not always easily. There are so many elements that can get in the way and it’s a struggle for so many people to keep the course.

Motivation to lose weight can only be sustained if you really understand successful weight loss motivation techniques.

If you feel like you have little or no motivation to lose weight even though you have a strong desire to get the weight off, these tips should help you because we all have true motivation already inside us … it’s just a question of knowing how to pull out and make good use of it in your search to a slimmer, healthier and firmer body.

>>>Here are 4 weight loss motivation tips:

1. Aim big to see changes in your body: You surely don’t want to do a 360 of your life overnight, but you do want to make sure that you set goals that are going to challenge you. Now, I’m not saying to pretend you are participating in an episode of “The Biggest Loser”, but I do mean that you’ll have to do more that add two glasses of water per day in your diet to see changes.  If you want to kick off your weight loss and see changes, take a note from Dr. Oz and set a challenge for 30 days. Maybe you’ll want to cut out soda from your diet for 30 days?

2. Set precise goals: You can only keep your motivation at peak performance if you have a set goal in mind. Each step should get you closer to your goal, but if you’ve not taken the time to figure out your weight loss goals, you’ll find it extremely challenging to keep your motivation.

Why not sit down and detail these elements:

* How much weight do you want to lose within the year?

* How much weight will you need to lose over 12 months to reach your overall weight loss goal?

* Do you know which foods that will sabotage your diet? Have you taken the steps to get rid of them inside your home?

* Have you determined what you’ll do on those days where you don’t stick to your diet plan or your exercise plan?

* Have you determined how you’ll deal with eating out at restaurants without seemingly gaining 5 lbs?

Those are just some of the questions that can help you set clear goals in each are of your weight loss journey that will help you. The last thing you want is to be vague about your weight loss goals because you’ll never (EVER) be able to see any significant results.

3. Seek help: You don’t have to go at it alone. It’s not easy to keep your motivation to lose weight alone. It’s best to get one or a group of cheerleaders in your corner. There are many online resources and you can even jump on Facebook and find support there. My Facebook fan page gets a lot of interaction and it’s all about helping each other stay on track when it comes to healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. If you’ve not yet joined my Facebook fan page, now is the time: Healthy Eating on Facebook .

Don’t forget that working out with a friend or a group of people will also help you maintain your motivation to lose weight for a longer period of time.

4. We ALL fall off the wagon! It’s so easy to focus on the negative when it comes to dealing with your weight. It’s incredible how many people are willing to never forget their setbacks when it comes to losing weight and just figure if they’ve had one bad day, why continue on their weight loss diet plan and why not simply go back to their old bad habits. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you’ve had a bad day, acknowledge it and start fresh the next day. If you hate the gym … stop thinking of how much you hate exercising at the gym … and instead find a fitness activity that gets you challenged and excited.

If you want to keep your motivation to lose weight, you’ll need to focus on your wins and not your shortcomings. With the right frame of mind, you’ll find the necessary motivation to reach your weight loss goals.

Motivation to lose weight is one of the biggest challenges you’ll have to face when it comes to maintaining a healthy weight as you age. The best way to ensure that you maintain your motivation to lose weight, you’ll need to figure out your “why”! Your “why” can be anything from living a healthier life, to being alive to see your kids get married or even breaking the cycle of disease that has pledged your family history. Once you’ve figured out your “why”, you’ll have found your motivation to lose weight.

If you currently have no motivation to lose weight yet you want to get yourself started then use these tips and reap the rewards.

>>> If you need some help with keeping your motivation to lose weight, you might want to try hypnosis … it’s been very successful for a lot of people (if fact, research has proven that hypnosis is an affordable way for regular people to deal with the challenges of weight loss): Enjoying Weight Loss
