You know how your body can mistake hunger for thirst? I haven't been drinking nearly as much water as I did over the summer so when I started feeling nibbly an hour after lunch yesterday, I figured I was probably dehydrated.
That did the trick! I felt just fine up til dinnertime four hours later.
16 oz bag of frozen chopped broccoli, thawed
1/4 jar tomato sauce
4 no-boil lasagna noodles
1 cup plain non-fat yogurt
1 cup non-fat cottage cheese
Dried thyme, garlic salt, onion powder
salt and pepper
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, combine the broccoli, yogurt, and cottage cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Coat an 8x8 Pyrex dish with cooking spray and start layering: tomato sauce, noodles, broccoli mixture, a sprinkling of spices. Repeat. Bake for 45 minutes, covered with foil, leaving uncovered for the last 15.
It turned out rather pretty and tasty, but didn't hold together very well.
Next time I'll add an egg and some shredded mozzarella for binding action.
I had forgotten to insert some Tofurkey sausage to the lasagna so we had it on the side instead, dipped in mustard.
(Get your minds out of the gutter.)
Root beer floats for dessert! Using Root Beer Zevia, Non-fat Vanilla Fro Yo, and some Strawberry Sorbet:
I've never combined sorbet with soda but it was actually kinda delicious. Today's the last day to enter our Zevia giveaway!
I ordered a gaggle of ginger chews using our discount coupon and was eager to try this flavor:
The Spicy Apple Ginger Chew is nice - sweeter and not as spicy as the regular flavor. Not nearly as wonderful as my beloved Peanut Ginger Chew but I still liked it a lot. Good thing, because I have 36 ounces of it.
Here's my precious....
I had one with an organic apple while we watched a movie from Netflix, " Heartburn," which has been sitting by our DVD player for the last month or so. I want my month back. You'd think with an all-star cast (Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep), director (Mike Nichols), and screenwriter (Nora Ephron) this would be amazing. Carly Simon's rendition of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" (I'm not kidding) was like a form of torture. It was fun seeing actors like Catherine O'Hara and Kevin Spacey in smaller roles, though.
Speaking of small roles, I had my underwear audition this morning. Thank you for all your sweet, supportive comments about how I don't need no stinkin' trainer. It's such a bitty part that hiring a trainer wouldn't be very cost-effective - I think the only way I would do that is if I had to get really strong for an action film or if they were paying me to do so. But I'm happy with the way I am and if they have a problem with my wobbly bits, that's their problem, not mine.
For those of you wondering, you don't have to actually strip down for the audition (and if anyone tells you that you do, get OUTA there). I just wore tight, revealing clothes:
And had to pretend I was being stabbed, drowned, and then dead. What did you do this morning?
