It's been raining all day in Los Angeles! This is not usual weather. In fact, I can't remember the last time it's been like this. Someone remind me?
Before the rain started coming down, Abe and I hiked Bronson Canyon.

Then we tried something new for brekkie brew - oat bran!

Apple Crisp Oat Bran (serves 2)
- 2/3 cup oat bran
- 2 cups water
- 4 TB egg whites
- Large organic apple, chopped
In a medium sized pot, combine all the ingredients and cook over medium high heat, stirring occasionally, about 4-5 minutes or until thickened. Sweetened with NuStevia and topped with homemade granola.

Abe and I both really loved the creamy texture of this - kinda like grits or polenta. Very filling and comforting in this kind of weather. Good thing I got a huge bag from Trader Joe's - it'll be in regular rotation from now on.
I also had a cup of burdock root tea and a Newman's Own Ginger Mint.

After a trip to Trader Joe's and the drugstore, I made lunch. I toasted some Applegate Farms Yogurt Cheese on Ezekiel Raisin bread.

This cheese is AH-mazing. It tastes great, has probiotics, and melts beautifully. I'll definitely be purchasing it regularly.
With a salad of mixed organic greens, tempeh (sprayed with Braggs Liquid Aminos), edamame, and tomatoes marinated overnight in balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and Bac'Uns.

A new find - itty bitty Tootsie Pops! With itty bitty Tootsie rolls in the middle! Awww! I've gotta stock up on these while they're around for trick-or-treaters...

Also consumed - the bowl of grapes and the supplements you see behind the adorable sucker.
I taught a piano lesson, talked my shrinky dink's ear off, then drove home in rainy traffic and slapped together dinner.
First, I sauteed 1/2 a red onion with 1/2 a package of frozen spinach in EVOO, salt and pepper. While that was going on I chopped up one of these Applegate Farms Organic Chicken and Apple Sausages...

...and microwaved it with some leftover whole wheat spaghetti and a dab of Wild Garden Fire Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Dip (thinned out with water)

All together:

Scrrrrrumptious. Applegate Farms knows their stuff - this sausage is like woah. And if you've never combined hummus with pasta before, you really should. Abe enjoyed his vegetarian version (made with a Tofurkey sausage).
For dessert I had a scoop of Strawberry Sorbet and Haagen Dazs Vanilla Fro Yo, served over 1/2 a chopped Asian Pear (peel easily removed with the gadget Carol sent ) -

I kinda like the rain, but I hope it lets up tomorrow. I have a bunch of errands to run before the San Diego Asian Film Festival this weekend! I have two films at the festival, so I'll actually be going down two weekends in a row, plus I'm presenting an award at the Gala Dinner so I need to get a dress since it's black tie optional. Well, of course, I already have some old ones in my closet, but...I like to have options! I'm planning on a quick blogger meet up Saturday late morning/early afternoon - if any of you bloggers can be in Balboa Park at that time shoot me an email at actorsdiet(at)gmail.com.
