Lofty Coffee

Posted Feb 27 08 4:15pm 2 Comments

Last week I rediscovered coffee’s caffeinated benefits. In between late night rehearsals and before early morning class I’d reach for my favorite: iced soy unsweetened. Delicious, refreshing, and uplifting. What more could a girl ask for? Fortunately, I discovered this site for bloggers to GET FREE COFFEE . The timing couldn’t be better. It’s mid-semester and there is no break in sight. It’s time to rev up those caffeine fueled engines and put the pedal to the metal.

Like every other substance, caffeine isn’t bad for you unless you consume it in excess. Coffee can be a great a.m. beverage - the smell alone makes me smile and I wish I had time to sit down and enjoy a cup in the mornings. I usually brew it the night before and shake up a quick drink in the morning (soy milk + coffee + chocolate whey protein) to have on my way to the studio.

In high school I would carry around a huge thermos of coffee to keep myself awake through the day. I wouldn’t recommend that to anyone, of course. Kicking the habit made me sick and grouchy for a few days. But a nice cup (or two) every day didn’t do anyone any harm. Just stay away from the sugar. How? Switch to splenda and ween yourself off of the splenda. You’ll discover the natural deliciousness of a good quality brew. If you want to avoid all bad substances altogether, you can always go decaf. And hey, you can take your coffee black. I just can’t. For more info on Drinks and Nutrition

I have really been savoring my coffee lately. I substitute the morning cups with green tea. By the afternoon, I either go to Starbucks to work and LOVE my coffee, or just have a small cup at home. I feel like it's cut back on the caffeine intake. Maybe not, but green tea is supposed to be a 'healthier' way to get it - right?
You haven't exactly cut back on your caffeine intake, but you have added antioxidants that are very important. The suggested dose of green tea is 3 cups/day. I personally don't drink THAT much of it - I love tea, but there are so many other flavors!! White tea is also exceptionally healthful.
