Good move! Here are the fatty foods to stay away from:
- trans fats, hydroginated oils, and all foods that may be containing that (margarine, cookies, chips, chocolate confections)
- animal fats: butter, dairy made of whole milk, cheese, hot dogs, hamburgers, egg yolks
- alcohol
Foods that help lower cholesterol: soluble fiber -- That's oatmeal, whole wheat bread, and most fruit and vegetables.
Tips for success: replace red meat with chicken or turkey, eat fish, choose egg whites instead of whole eggs, switch to nonfat or low-fat (1%) milk and yogurt, stick to hard cheeses if any, and eat at least 5 servings a day of fruit and vegetables. Eat lean, it's a healthy thing!
