The third session of my fall cooking class series at Cape Elizabeth (Maine) Community Center — scheduled for6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8— will be taught by my friend and first cooking instructor Lisa Silverman, who runs the Five Seasons Cooking School in Portland, Maine. The session,Creating New Holiday Favorites,will
show that holiday treats don't have to be sugary to be really tasty and

For those of you who don't know Lisa (and who in Portland, Maine doesn't? ... She's the unofficial mayor!), Lisa is Portland's most prominent macrobiotic chef, breath work facilitator (she's unbelievable & I'll vouch for that!) and shiatsu practitioner.
Lisa recently re-opened her cooking school after a two-year hiatus, and she's back in full swing. Her home and cooking school are where I started my macrobiotic journey almost 11 years ago. Lisa's relaxed style is infectious and I consider myself fortunate to have learned from her! (Friend Lisa on Facebook. )
Well, Lisa also is back to making takeout macro meals, so if you're just beginning and you need a jump-start (like I once did), or ... if you just want to eat someone else's cooking (always a treat!), call Lisa at 207-233-6846, and sign-up for a meal. It's a wonderful service for our macrobiotic community. Or, better yet, come and learn for yourself. The camaraderie and support are great and I can honestly say that I met some of my best friends in Lisa's cooking classes.
You could start with Lisa's dessert class in Cape, because it will be fun. As all of us who have taken (or taught) macrobiotic whole foods cooking classes know, the dessert class is always the most popular class going! Wonder why? Ha!
