I dipped some ritz crackers in red pepper hummus and drank a medium roast coffee with soymilk, sugar and a shake cocoa powder.
On the UC Santa Cruz campus we hike up and down ravines, through groves of trees and literally have classes in the middle of the forest. If only it weren’t true in the winter. Well last year I found out that I’m pretty allergic to Acacia Trees and the campus is full of them. I almost had to have sinus surgery last winter because I kept going to the doctor saying I was sick and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong because it was an allergy.
An allergy to Acacia trees is at it’s worst in wet weather, very backwards, usually allergies are far worse when it’s dry. But with the rainy weather we’ve been having the last week or so and my very long 20 minute hike through a forest of Acacia trees I’m pretty miserable with allergies. My eyes are blurry, my ears feel like they’re ready to explode and my sinuses feel like they have a sinus infection. I actually consider not coming to class to give my face/head a rest from the reaction.
Blah, I need some Benadryl.
After I trudged through campus to get to my class I settled down for lunch. I ended up eating my snack too… hunger struck at lunchtime.
I’ve been enjoying Gloria’s wraps and sambosas a lot lately. They come from Gloria’s a local bakery in Capitola and the Surf City Coffee Co I stop at and the Whole Foods Market in Santa Cruz both carry them. I’ve had the Thai Wrap, Potato Curry Sambosa, and the Chipotle Bean and Rice Sambosa. They’ve all been delicious. They’re all vegan and taste super fresh. I have yet to try the hummus veggie.
Tonight is the last basketball practice of the season. It’s so bitter sweet. Class has started I have to take notes. Later all.
How’s the day treating you? Mine is so-so.
