Lemony Spaghetti & Veggies & 34 week update!

Friday!! This week was super, super fast and it’s the weekend! Yes!

I’m pretty psyched to relax this weekend and get stuff done. I’m really starting to feel like our weekends to get things done are numbered….probably because they are. Soon it will be all baby, all the time.

I’ve been trying to keep up with making semi-interesting meals…mostly that consist of different types of pasta. Regular pasta, whole wheat pasta, brown rice pasta, corn pasta. I do not discriminate. This baby is going to be a pasta lover just like her/his mama.

So pregnancy at 34 weeks. It’s crazy. 3 weeks until full term. 6 weeks until due date. I DO feel like this baby is coming earlier. I DO know that all first time mom’s feel this way. I’m just going to be prepared for this baby to come in 3 weeks and be happy waiting. Hospital bags will be packed in next 3 weeks, pediatrician will be picked, stroller will be bought, car seat installed, meals made (maybe), and more.

How I’m feeling; I feel mostly good. I’ve had a couple rough days where my stomach has been totally off. I also had heart burn one night so bad I could not sleep for 3 hours. As far as aches and pains, I don’t really have any, but I really attribute that to the chiropractor and stretching.

Exercise: I’m still going. Mostly walking. 3 days off this week because of being away and stomach feeling off. Running is still happening in intervals (run anywhere from 2-6 minutes, walk 1-3 minutes). Strength training is boring for me right now but I’m still doing it 2 times a week.

Sleep: I love sleep. Most nights I get up to go to the bathroom 1x, if I’m beyond exhausted I sleep through the night. Some nights I’m up for an hour or two, but mostly it’s great. Also got in some naps this week. I know you’re only pregnant with your first once, so I’m taking advantage of it.

Thoughts: A lot of “OMG baby is coming soon” thoughts. A lot of texting Dan throughout the day with prebaby to do lists. I’m so glad the nursery is basically done because I can walk in there and feel settled. A lot of feeling ridiculously grateful for our family and friends. A lot of wondering how much bigger my belly is going to get over the next 6 weeks.

Other things that don’t fit anywhere else:

  • We’re not taking a birth class. I don’t know if it’s right or wrong, but I’ve read a couple of books and feel as prepared as I’m going to be. We’re happy with our decision and do feel like we have the knowledge to go into birth educated with an open mind.
  • Weight gain as of 34 weeks is 17 pounds.
  • I’m probably getting this diaper bag.
  • Third trimester food aversions are like first trimester food aversions.
  • We took our maternity photos yesterday. I cannot wait to see them! (You can like Steve Depino’s FB page to see amazing photos here.)
  • I’ve gone through almost a pint of grated pecorino romano this week basically by myself.

 Lemony Spaghetti with Chicken, Peas & Carrots

Ingredients

  • 3 cloves, fresh garlic chopped
  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 pound of chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup of frozen peas
  • 1 cup of shredded carrots
  • 3 eggs, scrambled in a separate bowl
  • juice of 1/2 lemon

Lightly brown garlic in olive oil. Throw in chicken and brown on both sides over medium heat. Add peas, carrots and lemon juice. Lower heat to medium-low and let cook through, stirring every couple of minutes. Add eggs and stir well. Cover and let cook through 1-2 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve over some type of spaghetti.  Also serve with tons of grated pecorino romano.
