Jessica Simpson Admits She Eats Emotionally

Posted Oct 27 2010 5:35am

Jessica Simpson appeared at a Women’s Conference recently and spoke about her weight and her eating habits . As usual, the media is picking a lot of words out of context and making it sound worse than in was, such as the OhNoTheyDidn’t post entitled Jessica Simpson: I Want Food When I’m Sad .  Of course, she did say that, but it was among other things:

“I’m from Texas, I like everything fried, which is the really unfortunate thing. My relationship with food? I want it when I’m sad. When I’m happy, I don’t think much about it. But I do like to go out on a date for a good dining experience. It’s important not to say, ‘I can’t have this’ because then I obsess about it.”

I think she definitely comes off as if she has a defeatist attitude when it comes to her relationship with food–and I find that very sad. I felt the same way about food for years until I started putting my health first. I certainly haven’t worked out all my issues, but I no longer feel like food is in control. If someone where to ask me about my current relationship with food, I’d say that I love food (cause I do!) but I also realize that food is fuel and I love to give my body healthy fuel by eating mostly whole foods like fruits, veggies, and whole grains.

I suggest you take a minute to think about your relationship with food. If someone asked you to describe it, what would you say?
