It Get’s Real

I know I have another blog to rant about my impending move, but I have to say it.

Anyhow, life has been chugging along over here.

You’ll be familiar with ‘eat the house’ mode, if you’ve ever travelled or moved. I’m there now.

Everything has been slowly (or quickly) disappearing from the fridge. I’ve been making sure everything is gone by the time I am, but I guess that’s the nice thing about living with your family; they can just finish what you cannot.


I’m loving these. I can’t believe that, before this summer, I’d never eaten them in a bowl. WELL let me tell you that that’s all I do now. Perfect with brown rice puffs on the top for that snap, crackle, pop!

Sometimes things don’t go as planned. I’m not sure where I thought these crackers were going. Obviously nowhere fast (except into my mouth)

One of my favourites is whipped cottage cheese:

1 cup whipped low fat cottage cheese, 1 tbsp flaxmeal, 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds, 1 nectarine

When you whip it, it gets thick and creamy, like cheesecake. I’m not a huge cheesecake fan, but somehow I like this? I don’t know what people have against the stuff; it’s full of protein and tastes divine! Sounds funny, but I actually LOVE the curds.

What happens when you try to make Sunflower Seed Butter but end up with a bunch of seed crumbles that just won’t turn buttery?

I’m pretty sure these were some combination of sunflower seeds, tahini, and brown rice flour. A bit salty, but overall very sandy and crumbly and buttery. mmmmmmm.

I have to say, these were….interesting. The rhubarb was almost cloying and masked the oaty flavour, which I love. I always see people dressing up their oats and think I ought to try it to, but the truth is that I kind of just like mine plain….guilty?

FYI: don’t ever try to put an entire package of mixed beans into your mini crockpot: It WILL overflow.


Nevertheless, these were stupendous.

On an oat kick, I’d finished some Almond Butter (why do I feel compelled to capitalise that?) with a side of my Alum mag.

Almond Butter. Definitely a leader.
