I'm a vegetarian, and I love to cook and eat healthy food. However, no matter what I eat, I find that I'm STARVING by about 3pm

I have one magic word for you: FAT!

Fat is the cure for hunger, in my opinion. Protein is good for lasting energy, but fat is better to stave off hunger. Why do you think people on the low-fat-promoting Weight Watchers are constantly hungry?

Of course, as a vegetarian, you can’t get fat from meat, and you shouldn’t get it from processed foods (i.e., trans fat).

But here’s where you CAN get it:

  • avocado
  • coconut oil - spread it on whole grain bread or make coco-chocolate !
  • full-fat dairy products - I love Greek yogurt, which is full of fat AND protein.
  • eggs - hard-boiled make for a great snack! Try to get cage-free when possible.
  • high-fat nuts - I know you said you eat nuts, but try macademia or pecan, which are higher fat.
  • tempeh - who knew this was a somewhat good source of fat?!

Don’t fear the fat, people.
