*I’m warning you, this is a long one and I’ve had to cut it up over 3 pages*
In fact, I love it so much that I’m talking about it again! If you remember, I reviewed fitness boxing a few months ago after training for about 5 weeks at a gym that offered a super intensive fitness boxing class with a Russian instructor.
With that great experience behind me, I was set to go to an exclusive boxing school to learn from former professional fighters! I mean, if you are serious about any type of fitness activity, the ultimate dream is to learn from a pro!
That’s exactly why I headed to Florida Jacks.
Before I continue, I really want to make sure that all my international readers know that although they may not have a Florida Jacks school in their city, there are loads of former professional fighters who are now owners of their own gyms or personal trainers. You can do a quick search online to find them.
I will tell you that fitness boxing has been the most transformational fitness class I’ve taken since I’ve been hardcore cross training (and that’s since 2000; I’ve been training since 1995, but for the first few years I was mainly doing aerobic classes and I was not as hardcore).
What I want to clearly establish before I get into my experience at Florida Jacks is that if you are a woman and you’ve not yet tried fitness boxing … you’re missing out. If you are a man reading this, the same applies to you. If you’ve been spending too much time running or focusing solely on lifting weights, a fitness boxing class might jolt your muscles in a surprising way.
I had visited Florida Jacks prior to taking my classes and when I climbed the stairs to the second floor and saw all those boxing bags hanging … I knew that I was going to suffer and that I was going to enjoy every second of it!
>>>> My first fitness boxing class at Florida Jacks:
My first group class was called “Extreme Conditioning”. I fooled myself into thinking that I could work my legs the day before since boxing really involved the upper body (the day prior to my first class I had done a full weight lifting session focusing on my lower body). I wasn’t ready for the rigorous warm up (that involved ALL the muscles in my body) that our trainer Eric put us through.
