To me, frozen fruit is definitely preferable to fruit juice, and pretty much on par with fresh fruit in terms of nutrition. Manufacturers will freeze produce at the height of its ripeness, so you’re not losing nutrients by buying frozen. The only thing that sometimes suffers is taste.

But frozen fruit is PERFECT for smoothies because it gives them that creamy, thick texture without watering them down with actual ice.

In my smoothies, I like to add spinach to sneak in some greens, flaxseed if I want some fiber, or hemp protein powder for extra energy. I’ve also heard that adding xantham or guar gum can help smoothies get thick and fluffy, but I’ve never tried it. Experiment to see what you like best!
