I think almost everyone on this site would agree that the holidays are some of the hardest times of the year to keep up with your diet, exercising, and healthy eating habits. Not impossibly, just simply a tad more difficult. I definitely found myself eating a little bit more dessert than I should have, certainly. I wonder, how does everyone else feel they did over the holiday? And what tactics do you use to keep yourself on the right track this time of year?
Enjoyed them, and the food. I kind of get in the holiday mood and enjoy the food. Not too much, but I definitely do not diet. I find that eating in moderation works for me more than completely avoiding it, because that makes me want to binge.
Surprisingly.... although I did eat more than my fair share of junk, I honestly was kind of turned off by it. My sister was visiting me from out of town and she's pregnant, so she had all these cravings--only thing is that she didn't want to go it alone, so I was often talked into late-night dessert and other indulgences. I kind of did it to placate her, but truthfully, my appetite wasn't all about gorging. I was kind of proud of myself for this, since historically, I've been all about the pumpkin pie and fatty side dishes. But this time around, it really did nothing for me, and I tried to compensate with lots of fresh veggies and water to flush out the junk.
I made sugar free pumpkin pie. I was able to stick to a sugar free diet, I made some gorgeous sugar free pumpkin pie with xylitol. You wouldn't know the difference!!
I enjoyed it!. I just tried to enjoy it and have a good time. The one conscious thing I tried to do was stay away from the cheese platter. I also just went ahead and ate a turkey sandwich for breakfast one day because I really, really wanted one and I knew that anything else wouldn't satisfy me and that I may as well just ahead and cut to the chase!
Really well. I usually host Thanksgiving dinner and have tons of leftovers. Translate: too many desserts. This year my sister-in-law volunteered and I didn't get stuck with them.
Yeah!
