How Alkaline Foods and pH Balance Affect Your Health

Posted Dec 20 2008 5:40pm
Research now reveals the various ways that alkaline foods and pH balance can affect your overall health. On a scale of zero to fourteen, pH balance is a way of measuring the acidity or alkalinity of a substance, with seven being “neutral.” A pH above seven is alkaline and lower than seven is considered acidic.

It is common knowledge now that bacteria, viruses, yeast, and other harmful organisms thrive when the blood system is more acidic. Human blood registers a pH balance of about 7.4, and needs to stay in that range. Maintaining that level is easier when you consume more alkaline foods than acid foods.

Some of the best alkaline foods to consume are leafy green vegetables such as lettuce and spinach. Carrots, peppers, sweet potatoes and pumpkin will help alkalize your pH balance, too. Herbs such as garlic, cumin and oregano can be excellent choices as well. Keep in mind that we are talking about pH balance once these alkaline foods have been digested and their components are in the blood stream.

An easy way to increase your intake of alkaline foods is with concentrated formulas made from food grade herbs. Following this advice has worked for many people to avoid health challenges such as viruses, yeast infections and diseases caused by harmful bacteria that may thrive in a more acidic body. These all natural food and health drink products are naturally alkaline. They provide a simple way for the average consumer to manage a healthy pH balance and get all the alkaline foods needed on a regular basis.
