My stomach seems to be a bottomless pit lately! Everyday starts with pumpkin oats (the only food that really suppresses my hunger) and coffee. Then, I usually have a small snack between classes (1/2 of an Odwalla or Clif bar). Around 1:15 PM I enjoy a quiet lunch of either leftovers, or a mixture of fruit with some pb on the side and maybe a bar or a Jamba Juice. I'd much rather have a huge salad but I don't have a fridge in my office and warm veggies are so unappealing. Today, I came home for lunch and made myself a bowl of mixed Kashi fiber cereal and Multigrain Cheerios. Kuna (our new elephant friend) kept me company! The blueberries were amazing and I actually finished a whole carton by myself in two days.
I'm not sure how or why this insatiable hunger is occurring. It's been about 85 degrees everyday with high levels of humidity (basically unless I sit by a fan I am sweating, when I arrive on campus I am usually drenched, my students must love this)! I drink water like crazy. At least a gallon a day if not more. Sometimes it's just kind of annoying to feel hungry. Know what I mean?
Now to decide what is on the menu for dinner...my stomach is begging for a falafel sandwich and greek salad but my wallet thinks a vegan patty and an egg with some pesto would be a better choice. Who will win? I'm leaving this one up to the boys (Sean and Edward). They rarely deny their food cravings and maybe one of them will treat me to dinner (hint, hint)!
