Help Save The Planet From Global Warming & My NYC Event Reminder

Please don’t throw your arms up in despair over global warming! Many people don’t want to read about this issue, because they feel hopeless. On the contrary, I’m reading Kathy Freston ’s The Quantum Wellness Cleanse and learning a lot about how one persons consumption habits can have a positive ripple effect for the good of the planet.

One person can do quite a lot to make a difference in the world, in our own health, and the health of our planet. Katy Freston believes that we CAN make a difference every day by what we choose to eat, and so do I. This a biggie!

Kathy points out that by choosing a plant-based diet (animal-free), we can make a huge impact …

“According to United Nations scientists in a recent 408 page scientific analysis of raising animals in order to eat them, eating meat, dairy and eggs is “one of the …. Most significant contributors to the most  serious environmental problems at every scale from local to global and “should be a major policy focus when dealing with problems of land degradation, climate change and air pollution, water shortage and water pollution, and loss of biodiversity.”

Kathy points out …

Land degradation …  “ more than 90% of the Amazon cleared since 1970 is being used by the meat industry for either grazing or to grow crops to feed the animals. When trees are cut down or burned massive amounts of carbon dioxide are released, thus contributing to global warming."

Climate change ... “ Animal agriculture causes almost 40% more green house emissions than all the cars, trucks and planes in the world combined.” Yes, it’s true, “ the digestive process of farmed animals (including their excrement, which is 130 times that produced by U.S. human population), combine to release staggering amounts of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide into the atmosphere. The additional processing steps- shipping, feed, slaughtering animals, dismembering and processing their bodies and freezing their bodies for shipment require tons of oil and electricity.”

“The Environmental Defense  Fund explains, “If every American skipped one meal of chicken a week and substituted vegetable and grain recipes the carbon dioxide savings would be the same as taking more than half a million cars off U.S. roads.”

This is something monumental that we CAN DO, even if just during the The 21 Day Quantum Cleanse or going animal- and dairy-free once or two times a week. I want to be part of the solution because I love this planet and my kids (who doesn’t?), and I don’t want to leave it in a worse mess than it already is in today. I can bet you don’t either, but we have to do our part and this is the easy part.

Cleaning up the planet and leaving it habitable for the next generation is our responsibility, it starts and ends with us. Decreasing or eliminating animal products is the hugest thing we can do. Become part of the solution and rise to the challenge.

How can you start? If you’re eating animal products five times a week, try cutting down to three times a week. If you are now eating it three times cut down to once or twice. If you are following a macrobiotic diet and still eating fish, cut your amounts in half or eliminate it all together.
